2019 Panto Read Through & Auditions

Panto on the Prairie

Dawlish Repertory Company will be presenting an exciting new panto from the 11th - 19th January 2019 and would love you to take part. The story tells how Calamity Jane (the Dame) emigrates from England to the American Wild West, expecting to share in her brother’s goldmines, but instead she ends up being kidnapped by a band of Mexican Bandits who are working for an Indian called Geronimo. Geronimo also plans to unseat Chief Talking Bull, lover of the fast-food hi-tech world of the paleface, and declare all-out war, but an unlikely alliance between the disillusioned Bandits, the outlaws Angelina and Jolie and Texas Ranger Clint Westwood, ultimately defeats him. This is a rollicking Wild West adventure, featuring several other well-known characters such as Pocahontas and The Milky Bar Kid. There are fifteen principals plus a busy chorus of all ages, not forgetting the pantomime horse and bear!

The read through is on Monday 25th June from 7:30pm at Shaftesbury Theatre when you will meet the director (Paula Smith) and can ask any questions you might have about the rehearsal process. The auditions will then take place on Sunday 1st July from 2:00pm for the Chorus & 3:00pm for the Principals.  Rehearsals begin November 2018.

You do not need to be a member to come along (although you would need to join if you got a part), so we hope to see you there! Yee haw!!
